PHP. Even though server-side coding to me is extremely boring, at least I can connect to MySQL now when I needed to without begging someone else.

I have very much found this to be the case as faqr as depth of understanding but am curious about others experiences. I've been learning Python for the last few weeks(recreationally) and I've actually found that although the difference in the way it is written and the naming of a lot of things slows me down- and occasionally causes me a bit of boredom when I'm doing a long chapter about functions or something like that- it actually makes me think about the stuff in different ways. For example- when looking at Dictionaries in Python it made me think of times that although not naming it that -I had used similar structure. To phrase it as a formal question- For those who have picked up other languages after or at the same time as ActionScript- which have you found helped boost your learning the best and why? As a follow up question- despite Java's similarity to ActionScript is it "too much work" for the result?
