Heeeey, that really worked well.  At least in Firefox.  Havent tested in
other browsers yet.  But setting wmode to opaque oddly enough works for
this.

Great and thanks to everyone for taking their time to look at this for me.
I will still try some of the other things suggested, but havent had the time
yet.
