Exhausted Google. Setup: Pure AS3 project in Flashbuilder, I have embedded an external .swf into the main .swf using an [Embed] metadata tag. [Embed(source="source/deploy/ScenePresenterTimeline.swf")] public var ScenePresenterTimeline:Class; ... var scenePresenterTimelineSprite:Sprite = new ScenePresenterTimeline() as Sprite; addChild(scenePresenterTimelineSprite);
What I'm trying to do: Pick up a dispatched custom event from the embedded .swf. Note: (the custom event is all done properly, overrides clone, blah blah.) What I've tried: Tried dispatching the custom event from the .swf the usual way, including bubbling=true and also via loaderInfo.sharedEvents.dispatchEvent(new TimelineEvent(TimelineEvent.NEXT_CLICKED)); Tried listening in the main .swf to the custom dispatched event from the embedded "child" .swf via the usual addEventListener, and also tried via loaderInfo.sharedEvents.addEventListener - but loaderInfo.sharedEvents is coming up with a null object error. Not interested in alternatively implementing LocalConnection for this either, wouldn't be a good option for my overall setup. Core question is, listening to events from object/class instances is easy, but what's the way to listen for events in loaded or embedded child .swf - especially ones embedded like this via an [Embed] tag?
