What a quick response! Isn't it sunday in France?

Well, I know of both methods. Unfortunately, I don't define the particular container that I wish to track.

...

When I could route all setChildIndex calls globally to a custom method, I would be able to identify the affected parent and all depending children. @The hackers: How do I hack this? Is there some prototyping to such dirty things?

Hello :)

Extends the MovieClip or Sprite class and override the methods with custom
event dispatch inside.

Does anybody know a way to catch z-index modifications?

I would like to detect if a sprite becomes the first/last child of its
parent at runtime.
