I tried earlier and had the missing caps present, I then right clicked on the RX pane, and selected "clear" after which the caps on the TX pane returned correctly. I almost never clear the RX field, and so I assumed the buffer had a finite length, and then dropped into the bit bucket automatically when it reached some limit. It will probably take a while for the buffer to get that full again, so I can try to duplicate it. Will let you know.
