I have had the same error, on a low computing power EEEpc. I determined that the problem was that there was too much graphics utilization of the cpu , for drawing the waterfall. I had htop running so I could watch which processes were taking up the cycles. There was always high graphics interactivity when the audio chain timed out. You could try reducing the vertical and horizontal sizes of the waterfall to see if that helps.
This is consistent with a receive only situation when the problem occurs, as during transmit there is so much less graphics use even if you have monitot transmit turned on. -- Andrew Hart C.Eng. MRINA radio calls G8VTV / VE3NVK 28, Chimo Drive, Kanata, ON, K2L 1A5 Canada tel: 613 592 5043
