I don't think ARQ would really be applicable for the time calculation
since you would have no idea how many retries you might run into. I
guess you could do an ARQ calc based on perfect copy.
With a WRAP, it's just a single transmission and the time calculation
should always prove to be dead on based on the length of message and
mode/submode.

Yes, but that only applies to plain text or wrapped files, not ARQ
connections. I think what you really want is a file window to open that
shows the transmit time for a target file, perhaps as a function of
digital mode. Would it suffice to have a popup calculator that allowed
you to pick the target file and mode?
