I believe that gentle lid detection is a valuable service. Of course, hams should be given full control, but I believe defaults should encourage good operating practice. That's why I suggested the PSK and CW and RTTY RSID be off by default, and why I suggested putting the callsign in the title bar. Showing transmission time, possibly with some colored backgrounds on the clock when it gets lengthy, might be both useful and gentle.
