I don't disagree, but it doesn't appear that your responding to the 
points I was trying to make.  I was probably unclear or rambling.

  If an author (and presumably certain contacts at a publisher) are under a 
NDA they can probably collaborate together to write a book w/o an NDA 
violation.  But, they probably cannot send the book to a "print shop" while 
it still contains NDA-related information.  So, they have to wait until the 
product is released (AKA NDA information becomes public) before sending it 
to print.  The process of getting the books printed and circulated to book 
stores takes time, and as such books do not hit the shelves at the same 
time as the software is released.

  In the case of Flex 2, where all information was public, I would not 
expect a publisher to send the book to print until the official product 
release, because they want to make sure the book contains correct 
information (in an ideal world).
