Keep in mind that he is probably using the "OSX 86" (hacked os x to run on other intel hardware) install, and is prone to some issues that fall outside of what an experience would be running a regular mac setup. It "could" be susceptible to other issues. But I am not speaking from experience here - so it should be taken with a grain of salt.
