If you ever go back to it: If you set height instead of measuredHeight or using setActualSize, that could lock in explicitHeight and then the renderer won't resize.

I took a look at the AdvancedDataGridRendererProviders that Johannes suggested, but it falls under the same category. I feel I'm missing something totally obvious, but no-one else seems to have found a decent solution either, so maybe not...
