Thanks everyone! I really learned alot from your posts!! I think I found the solution to my problem. I am using the NetConnection object described in this post:
http://www.oscartrelles.com/archives/as3_flash_remoting_example It seems to be giving me the same results as I was looking for with the RemoteObject path I was going down.
