In my previous job, I created Swing apps for 5 years before I switched to Flex in January. Belive you me - creating GUI in Flex is so much faster than in Java (Swing).
As for using Java on the serverside, that's a great choice, IMHO. Use whatever you want on the serverside, PHP/CF/Java/Ruby .. but make sure you choose Flex as the clientside if you're doing something more than HTML ;-) Bjørn On 28/09/2007, Giles Roadnight <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Did you mean Giles? > > I'll assume you did. > > I was recruited as a Flex / Coldfusion developer to replace the old one > who left. > The larger business uses java and has always been trying to get my boss to > do the same rather than doing his own thing. > It looks like it might take a while to replace me so the business has > suggested re-doing the sites in java so that people from other sections can > maintain it if necessary. > > Hope that explains it. > > Giles > > On 9/28/07, Paul Andrews <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "gers32" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] <cbu%40kitry.fr>> > > To: <[email protected] <flexcoders%40yahoogroups.com>> > > Sent: Friday, September 28, 2007 6:37 AM > > Subject: [flexcoders] Re: Here we go again: Flex Vs Java > > > > >I apologize for oversimplifying.
