About the two solutions, I don't like both, but having to choose I would go with the first one. In the way I see it, the component should never know where he's in. The component should only know "now I'm visible... now I'm not", and react to that. Both solutions are hacks. The Flex SDK should have a proper solution for this problem. Maybe I should file this as a feature request on the Adobe JIRA? Thanks, João Saleiro
