With any luck I'll have a non-VAC (soundcard) interface with DM780 which
I'll be using with my own software for SDR transceiver support.

This should not be part of a SDR console, it must be a separate program
tightly coupled with the SDR console. My plan is to run a SDR console on one
PC and the digital mode software on a second PC with the second PC (DM780)
driving the SDR console on the first PC.

Herding cats is easier than getting Hams to develop to a common modern
standard.

Summary: this summer DM780 will work with my own console at almost any data
rate via a published interface.
