To: "Ed Wilson" <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 9:25 PM I have an Astron SS-30M and the floating spurs/hash is primarily from a hardware hack in the supply to generate voltage for the meter illumination. If you disconnect the wire at the diode/capacitor junction that feeds the panel lights, you will notice a very significant reduction in the spurs/hash. I did some Internet research looking for a fix to the RFI and found this link: http://madpower.com/jk/Hamradio/astron/ The fellow who posted this identified the source of the problem. I can see my meters just fine without illumination, so I disconnected the meter light wire. (He customized his unit with LEDs). The change in RFI was very noticeable. I also located a SS-30 schematic, but no SS-30M schematic. After looking at the hack for the meter illumination, I'm not surprise a schematic does not exist. I marked up a SS-30M schematic to add the HW hack components the best I could. When I did this research, many stated that they returned their metered units for the non-metered units and the RFI went away. 73, Bill NJ1H On 6/29/2010 9:35 AM, Ed Wilson wrote: > I own two Astron switching power supplies, the SS 25M and the 30M.
