William, you should read Gerald's announcement from earlier today about 2.0.19 having these issues on certain Flex 5000 and 3000 Radios.
My 2.0.19 is ALSO flakey and it is 2.0.19 PowerSDR and NOT the firewire cable. So Drax just hang in there and go back to 2.0.16 until the next release and it should be taken care of. You just have a bad firewire cable or one that isn't fully connected. Fix that and don't blame the software.
