Lee,

I think that upgrade will have to wait until my old 1992 model FT-990 dies
but I'm not nearly as worried about replacing it now as I used to be. The
990 has one of the quietest receivers I've ever heard, that's why I bought
it and it still compares favorably with the current crop of rigs. Well, at
least until now with the Flex and the 2.0.22 PSDR. I was holding out for
better software since I'm almost 100% CW, a couple of weeks after they
released the new version I sprung for the 1500 and haven't looked back.

I've used the little Softrocks for a couple of years so it gave me a head
start on SDR. I've been having a blast with the little 1500, I was worried
that I might not be happy with it. Now that I know I am, hindsight is 20-20
but I should have moved up. I just dare my 990 to die now!
