Ted The board size is a mini-ITX instead of ATX!
I have built quite a few of these systems and outside the limitations of using onboard graphics and usually a PCIe 1394 card, they are quite full featured boards (i.e. dual video ports, quantity of USB ports, ethernet, etc.) There seems to be some interest in these configurations for RV and other mobile use. One of the reasons I got a touch screen over the holidays was to judge whether you could avoid having to take a keyboard with you out in the bush, instead rely solely on touch. I am incredibly impressed with how nice touch screens are but they do not substitute for having a keyboard and mouse so the idea of completely eliminating that isn't going to work. A fallback option, however, is I have tested using a logitech keyboard/touchpad that is built for home theatre usage so its smaller than normal yet quite responsive. Its a matter of time before someone puts together a complete 12v package, tests its current demands and goes out in the field and see how it rips! 73 On Tue, Jan 24, 2012 at 8:29 AM, Ted Leonard <[email protected]> wrote: > I am a happy flex 1500 and 3000 owner and have used the 1500 portable with > a laptop but would like to try it with the 3000 but no laptop with firewire. > While looking around I found the mini ATX series of motherboards and the > 12V DC power supplies and small cases on the mini-box and other sites.
