Further to my previous comments on the development of healthy jealous
feelings inside the group.
While my current project list prevents immediate implementation, I have done
preliminary measurements and have found that a Flex5000A case can be mounted
on one side of a standard 19 inch rack panel with competitive transverters,
a VHF SWR/Power bridge and a patch panel to give immediate front panel
access to the antenna, RX2 and transverter bumpy side connectors on the
5000A on the other side. Thus any variety of antenna, performance enhancers
and other accessories that can be thought of and frequently used by
operators of the splendid 5000A can be easily switched with minimal effort.
After suitable thought, aluminum extrusions, appropriate paint and the use
of "printer created" decals, a quite attractive and envy-producing radio
system is possible.

Subject: Re: [FlexEdge] Rack Mount for F5000
I agree that a rack shelf is an easy answer. But I would assume that the
principal reason for wanting to rack mount the 5000A is to induce big time
envy in the folks who want such a mod so their 6000 series radios will
"look serious, professional and industrial." And that will require some
more work! Never forget that "moving" a 5000A with full complement of
cables is nothing to be taken lightly! Especially not when you have to
have a "loop" of slack to allow even a slight change in position!
