For me your argument is broken right here. "*item" or "* item" mean
exactly nothing in html. Nothing. I'll agree that an html editor/coder
has a set of expectations of whitespace with in html. A FlexWiki coder
needs to understand the differences. If we categorically strip the
leading space, then I'll guarantee you that someone else will want it
there, because their style sheet or whatever they've coded into their
site depends on that. Then what? We have to invent a   syntax for
leading spaces in list items? It's seems easy enough to always strip
it, but adding it back will be a bear if/when its needed.

I think that I'm in the minority here, and since I'll certainly not be
implementing the feature, my vote problably doesn't matter a whole
lot, but I think that this would be a mistake. It breaks backwards
compatibility for no discernable reason other than "html treats
whitespace differently."
