It turns out that while you solo a SuperCub from the front seat, you solo the J3 Cub from the back seat (even though the gauges are up front). I've adjusted the default viewpoint accordingly, and have opened the bottom part of the door as well, just for better visibility (it's allowed to be open during flight).
I'm now seeing a little bit of texture battling on the altimeter, but that might be because I'm in 16 bit. Let me know if anyone else sees it. The layers probably just have to be a little further apart. Try it out, and imagine what it would be like with a passenger or instructor in the front seat.
