You may be able to request special permission for GPL release. It is possible
for GPL software distributors to charge a fee for costs and support, which
could be interpretted as commercial use. It is also possible for GPL software
to be included with closed source software or a hardware package that is
charged for. They might be open to GPL release if images are used as a basis
for textures, as opposed to distributing the original files.
Yep. We have that permission from Space Imaging ( http://www.spaceimaging.com ) also.
