I'm not familiar with the J22 - but isn't nozzle position - the actual angled position of the nozzle - and the aperature two different things? As an aside the harrier (YASim model) uses the mixture control to vector the thrust from the engine albeit it is from 1 main nozzle rather than 4 nozzles. But it's a great start.
