Correct, The 3D Clouds are really nothing more then a 'hack' at a proof of concept for Mark's code inside of FlightGear. We jsut use what is in Mark's demo. > My understanding of current 3d clouds is that the particule positions > are read from the files located in Data/SkyClouds in the base package. > How they were generated is a mystery for me, but the code isn't in FG or > SG. > > > If anyone finds it let me know, otherwise with algorithms are suitable > > for generating a set of not to ordered 3d points? This is a *large* field :-) Should find some stuff to get you started here http://dynamo.ecn.purdue.edu/~ebertd/texture/ebert/ The whole package needs a complete rewrite at somepoint, but I have not thought it worthwhile doing until we can take advantage of on card proceedural texturing and this will require a substantial addition to PLib.
