Agreed.  3D cockpits in general seem to make the simulator easier to fly by
giving the pilot some good visual cues that you can't get in the 2D cockpit. 
Of course for instrument training there isn't any difference. In fact 2D might
be somewhat better for that.

Me too.  It does look _much_ better.

The 2D offers the ability to display values more easily (e.g. the frequencies
on the radio stack).  Also the 2D panels can be developed without any 3D
software (although folks would be amazed how much you can do by copying other
3D instruments and editing the file in a text editor).

It is just good to see someone new taking the time to do the 3D work.
