Agreed. 3D cockpits in general seem to make the simulator easier to fly by
giving the pilot some good visual cues that you can't get in the 2D cockpit. Of course for instrument training there isn't any difference. In fact 2D might
be somewhat better for that.
I didn't find that -- given the choice, I stuck with the 3D cockpit all through my IFR work.
