They can be rectangular but each dimension must be a power of 2. 16x16,
16x32
or even 1x128 are ok.



Note that this is part of the opengl spec, and not a particular limitation of plib. Some scene graph libs will silently resize textures to be powers of two, but that's often not what you want if you are trying to control image quality.
