This can't be true for all the mirrors, which machine(s) are you having problems connecting to. Please be aware that ftp.flightgear.org has a limit of 30 users. It could very well be that your ftp client is retrying the connection in the background and it takes a few minutes for an open slot to become available?


I have nothing against bit torrent. If you want to set it up, I'd happily make a link to it from the FG downloads page.
