Oh no, "evil" is quite a bit stronger than what I meant to say. I was just trying to differentiate between the emotional part of ownership and the logical part that asks "how many copies could you realistically expect to sell anyway?" Generally bounties will get the poster more for their money, it definitely enhances a business's image and goodwill when it contributes something directly back to the community, and finally as you mentioned it isn't really critical to the overall product so why not GPL it?
