Hi,
I have posted extensive details of this problem under the users forum but it
has been suggested that it would serve the greater cause by advising the
developers.
FACTS:
Platform:
Intel p4,1.8Ghz
128M ram
32Mbyte GF2 MX 32Mbyte card
Windows 98me (ok stop laughing!!!!)
fgv098a works fine... 30fps-60fps frame rate. Apart from:
1) occassional hits to 1-10fps that can be cleared by a reboot
2) long (2 hours into 4 hour flight) causes the autopilot to "loose grip"
and the a/c to g into wild gyrations and crash. Less pronounced with slower
a/ceg C-172P more pronounced with faster eg A10.
3) even in fast a/c (A10) going out to sea , flying over sea , then cutting
in to desination resolves prob. Where as, flying entirely over land, crashes
as above.
FGv099 crashes on start up at "generating sky elements". Even closes the
FGRun MSDOS window so trace messages can't be captured.
I have worked with Georg to get cutdown versions of CYGWIN files running...
after resolving a few CYGWIN issues.... CYGWIN still crashes at exactly the
same place "generating sky elements"
I have down loaded and installed the latest video drivers. The Nvidia site
drivers for this card are earlier than the Windows Update drivers (as far as
I can determine).
Whenever running FGv099 I kill all processes other than "Explorer" and
"Systray".
IMPRESSIONS:
redaing between the lines I believe that FGv099 puts a lot more demands on
video memory, with only 32Mbyte this" just ain't hacking the pace" ie is
insufficient.
I have tried to keep this to the recommended "format" for a "bug" report.
Constructive feed back on the report would be appreciated.
Cheers
Dene
PS any further information you want, including screen shots, will be
forwarded ASAP
