Using this patch and plib-1.8.4 on a 64Mb GeForce 420MX there is a massive improvement; not immediately noticeable, but... Whereas before I couldn't use the Hurricane in most parts of the FG world, and got single-figure fps rates at KSFO with any a/c and Nimitz enabled, I can now take off from Nimitz _with_ the hurricane and have useable steady fps! (around 15) This is a very useful improvement for those of us with out of date video hardware and ought to allow more people to continue using FG with their existing hardware despite the increasing demands of FG (which I personally welcome, BTW.) It would be nice to have it as a selectable option somehow though... > I was hoping that it might enable me to run Jon's new KSFO scenery with > Tiger data, but no improvement there at all. The only adverse effects I've seen are slight (but unobtrusive) blockiness on some surfaces (i.e. compression artifacts) also noticeable in the 3d clouds. But if this option were selectable, I'm sure most people with aging hardware would happily accept this minor (and surely expected) side effect if it enabled them to continue running FG...
