Yes. And that's what it does. Just comment out the tail rotor
in $FG_ROOT/Aircraft/bo105/bo105.xml and see.

Because of the tail rotor (anti-torque). Helicopter pedals are
hardly ever evenly pressed, *because* that would lead to rotation
in one or the other direction. The pilot has to find the position
where the anti-torque counters torque. This depends on engine,
weight, ...
