Hi Holger, The short of it is fairly simple. VATSIM refuses to release the details of their protocol (possible exception being via an NDA) which makes it incompatible with an Open source project. As such it will never be included with Flightgear or even in the same cvs repositiory. Therefore we (the flightgear community) will have come up with our own protocol and means of operating.
