And it's not just trim; it's also carb heat and cowl flaps and speed brakes and other things that make a complex aircraft complex. I've been hoping to make at least one of the FG aircraft usable as a complex-aircraft procedures trainer for real pilots. This includes getting ATIS/AWOS to work, and gremlins, and proper flags on the instruments, et cetera. I know there are some people on this list who are interested in procedurally-realistic flying. > I don't know whether there should be more > trim indication in plane cockpits or (because of the already-cramped > screen) That argument cuts both ways. The real aircraft *is* crammed with stuff. One of the things that always amuses me is the look on the face of a first-time student or first-time passenger when they see just how many knobs, dials, and switches there are on the panel. > A graphical indication is another idea That's where I hope this winds up. I'm hoping the popup will give aircraft designers an incentive to put realistic controls and indicators in the cockpit for all these items: -- trim (pitch, rudder, and/or aileron) -- flaps -- speed brakes -- carb heat -- cowl flaps -- et cetera. We also need to decide whether there should be keyboard shortcuts for all these items. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
