I use 2 identical textures - one with transparency and one without, then use the transparent one on outer "decal" surfaces. Again, see the Seahawk. Not ideal, but ... On the other hand, the Buccaneer offers another, slightly different variation on this theme. As Detlef says, transparencies in textures is best avoided.
