Wow, that's a very significant increase in speed and convenience. Thanks. > If all goes well, I would like to prepare the final release version next > Friday. Let's try to make this the best > FlightGear release yet. :-) There are two possible approaches: a) Make a list of things that need to be checked, or b) Set a date. Given that nobody is being paid to get everything checked by any particular date, it is likely that these two approaches will produce very different results. a) If you want a quality release, stick to the checklist. b) If you want a release soon, stick to the date. Your choice. =========================== Here's a bug report. I have two machines that exhibit the same behavior, namely invisible aircraft. No error messages, no warnings, just no aircraft. I've checked this with several different aircraft. Most aircraft are entirely invisible in all views (pilot view, chase view, etc.) but 'some' sub-components of the 777 are visible in 'some' views. One machine is a Pentium with an ATI graphics processor and Radeon driver. The other machine is a dual-core Pentium @ 3 GHz apiece, with an Intel graphics processor and the xorg driver. Both are using OSG 2.6.1 and the rc2 package. One odd observation: Not only is the aircraft invisible, but some of the terrain is invisible also. This becomes obvious because you can see the underside of some scenery. In particular, users will discover that some seemingly short buildings are really tall buildings with most of the building hiding underground. This problem is partly new and partly not. RC1 and several of the cvs versions since August would get a SEGV before doing anything useful. But I havent' done a systematic study of that and I'm not interested in debugging old versions. I'm just mentioning it by way of context, just for completeness. In some sense it is good progress that rc2 gets far enough to exhibit the invisible aircraft. ======================= And another bug report: Several of the aircraft in the rc2 package make highly inappropriate noises during startup. This bug has been present for years. ======================= I know of lots more bugs. Let me know if you want me to report them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SF.Net email is Sponsored by MIX09, March 18-20, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
