My view is that they should be kept with the aircraft.
I also think that AIrcraft should be separated from the base data in CVS. At
present the CVS data repository is huge, and most of that size is due to the
number of aircraft we have. Checking out a new copy of the data currently takes
hours, and is only going to take long as the number of aircraft inevitably
increase.
Splitting out a new Aircraft repository would also allow us to relax our CVS
commit policy - so aircraft developers would have CVS commit rights for their
own aircraft.
Of course, there will be some pain involved, but I think we're going to have to
do this at some point, and the sooner we do it, the easier it will be.
