Well odd things result occasionally when we try to represent the physical
world with triangles ... we could discuss how many triangles and where to
concentrate them ... that's always a fair topic.  We could represent the
world perfectly if you gave me an infinite number of triangles, just like we
could solve all the worlds problems if you gave me an infinite amount of
money (or probably not in both cases.) :-)

How about having carriers do a terrain height check and follow the polygon
curvature of the FlightGear world?
