Short version for the impatient reader: Please do _NOT_ push any major changes or new features to simgear, flightgear, fgdata until further advice!
Long version: Anticipating the release 2.4.0, we reached our first milestone today. The development streams for flightgear, simgear and fgdata on gitorious are now declared "frozen". This state will last until July, 17th 2011 when the release branch will be created and the next resp. master branches will be open for new commits again. This is a declarative state, nothing has changed on the streams physically. Please refrain from pushing new features or major infrastructure changes to our streams. Please note: this includes fgdata, too! We have no strict definition of what a major change might be - as a rule of thumb: avoid any trouble that can't be fixed by July, 17th. The idea behind this "frozen" state is to have a few weeks time to test the current state and probably fix the most annoying bugs. This also provides a great opportunity for the coders to do with FlightGear was it was made for: pic a nice location somewhere and perform some virtual flights and enjoy all the great new features and additions of the last months. So, everybody is now requested to test FlightGear in it's current state. If you find any oddities, please file a bug report. Our next major release activities will be: July, 17th: - Creating the release 2.4.0 branch - Re-opening the development streams Soon after July, 17th: - Configuring hudson for the new branch - Creating the first release candidate binaries. Until August, 17th: while( false == allBugFixed() ) { - Testing, bug-reporting and -fixing - Providing of new release candidates } August, 17th: Release 2.4.0 Thanks for supporting our effort to create the next FlitghtGear release Torsten ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EditLive Enterprise is the world's most technically advanced content authoring tool.
