Providing old packages is actually easier (more or less automatic, 
actually) with per-aircraft git repositories since that works better with 
the "download tarball" option at gitorious - provied you put version tags 
on the aircraft.

Here is the FG 1.9.0 version of my US Navy ZF free balloon:

http://gitorious.org/flightgear-aircraft/zf_navy_free_balloon/trees/version/1.9.0

with the 2.0.0 and 2.4.0 versions mere clicks away.

There is one snag: the top-level directory has to be renamed manually.
