I believe that's an area I / Mathias / Tim can help with, if pestered 
sufficiently :)

In my case mostly re-using other people's code - thanks to Mathias we have a 
good library of functions to map geodetic/geocentric coordinates (lat/lon/elev) 
to various cartesian reference frames - earth-centered, the 'local viewer 
frame', which is pretty close to the OpenGL XYZ, and others besides.
