I know you'd say this... But I believe it's wrong.

A project isn't just code with proper design an isolated person is working on. 
A project needs to inspire, develop its own momentum, get people interested and 
draw them in, harness additional expertise and gather ideas. Just having the 
option to do something _now_ is worth a week of effort for me, even if it gets 
replaced by something superior a year from now, just to capture that momentum. 
Just working on something for a week when a better technique is available 
another week later is silly. Well, not even that, because it may be 
instructional for me to work something out myself.
