Hi JD,

Thanks for the response!

Played with all this for *hours* last night and this morning and am
starting to have misgivings about the stick. The whole thing just seems
incredibly flakey.

About the best I have done with it is to get the throttle where it works
in the right direction and with a limited degree of travel (about
1200-2200 RPM). The rest of the control surfaces make MAJOR jumps and
to resolve this I *really* do not look forward to making changes in the
0.01 range stepping through each axis range of values, but if it is
going to work with any degree of acceptability, I am afraid that is what
it is going to take, assuming there are not other problems elsewhere.

I haven't started rooting through the source/docs yet but I am not sure
that the .fsgsrc gets read back in on a (file-> reset) which is moot in
any case since *usually* on the second reset, fgfs segfaults out. I did
have it work 5-6 times in a row last night, but that was by far the
exception (yes, I suppose I should have tried to figure out what was
causing he segfault, but I was kind of into "just one more iteration and
that will be what I need" mode :-) :-( ). That when reset didn't
segfault I would frequenly switch from day to night also left me with
some questions :-).

I'm kind of lost at this point, this is the first time I have ever
gotten a joystick to work at all under linix, but it was never really
"important" :-) before. One can fly using mouse and keyboard, but that
just doesn't work for me :-).

I *really* like that particular stick (read *real* used to it :-) and
have been fighting trying another one. Space here is an issue so it
would be nice to get this one functional.

I'm going to spend some time rooting around the net today and see if I
can find some enlightenment on the whole joystick thing under linux.
This stick/USB sticks in particular.

Thanks & take care, Vikki (lost, dazed, confused and a little bleary
eyed, first all nighter I have pulled in a while :-).
