Hi All and thanks in advance.

I'm trying to get my joystick working with FG and either it isn't
suitable or (more likely) I am totally misunderstanding the
configuration process.

I've read the docs and played with this for a long time the first time
I did it and have been putzing for about the last hour and while the
center might be getting better, the throw is all one sided.

In case it matters, I am using a Saitek Cyborg Gold USB stick.

The proper axis are set correctly (using fgjs).

The buttons, well, we'll worry about those later :-).

  For ref:

--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[1]/binding/command=property-scale
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[1]/binding/property=/controls/elevator
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[1]/binding/dead-band=0.02
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[1]/binding/offset=-0.05
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[1]/binding/factor=-3.0

--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[0]/binding/command=property-scale
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[0]/binding/property=/controls/aileron
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[0]/binding/dead-band=0.02
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[0]/binding/offset=0.2
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[0]/binding/factor=3.0

--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[2]/binding/command=property-scale
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[2]/binding/property=/controls/rudder
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[2]/binding/dead-band=0.02
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[2]/binding/offset=0.3
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[2]/binding/factor=3.0

--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[3]/binding/command=property-scale
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[3]/binding/property=/controls/throttle
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[3]/binding/dead-band=0.02
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[3]/binding/offset=0.0
--prop:/input/joysticks/js[0]/axis[3]/binding/factor=-3.0
[ ... ]

Yes, they are a mess at the moment :-).

While not perfectly centered, I can hack at that 0.01 at a time until I
get there.

The problem is that all axis seem to have a LOT of throw in one
direction and none (or close to that) in the other.

The factor is set up because initially they had no significant throw at
all and that was predominately in one direction (VERY little in the
other), I seem to have plenty of throw now, still pretty much all in one
direction.

Is this something I just have to keep putzing with or do I need to drag
another joysitck or yoke out of the closet?

Yes, I'm real confused with this. It gets a bit time consuming to kill
fg, edit the file, restart fg ... Maybe reset will cause the file to
re-read, but I haven't tried that yet, perhaps it will not randomly blow
fg out of the water as it did with the RPM installation - that was
removed and this iteration all built from cvs. Nope, hit reset twice
and fg blows out with this version also :-(.

Thanks for any suggestions, pointers or anything that might help here.

Take care, Vikki.
