As a modeller, I can say that the primary reason for incompleted aircraft is the lack of information. This is especially true for the interior. When too much guess work is involved, it simply gets discouraging.
What we (as modellers) *really* need is a group of people who are dedicated to research. It will be especially great if somebody can write to Airbus and Boeing for detailed information regarding all their aircrafts. Another reason for incompleted aircraft is the modeller's lack of skills on such thing as scripting, FDM, etc. Take the MD11 for example. I really want to finish up the panels, but I simply don't have the knowledge nor the skill to code the flight displays.
