It looks it like it is not finding your compiler (also the other error is to check that "cc" is valid name tells me that it is not finding your compiler) . Do you have gcc installed? To check this use: gcc -v you should get something like this: Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/specs Configured with: /var/tmp/portage/gcc-3.4.4-r1/work/gcc-3.4.4/configure --prefix=/usr --bindir=/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/3.4.4 --includedir=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/include --datadir=/usr/share/gcc-data/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4 --mandir=/usr/share/gcc-data/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/man --infodir=/usr/share/gcc-data/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/info --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/include/g++-v3 --host=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --build=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --disable-altivec --enable-nls --without-included-gettext --with-system-zlib --disable-checking --disable-werror --disable-libunwind-exceptions --enable-multilib --disable-libgcj --enable-languages=c,c++,f77 --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-clocale=gnu Thread model: posix gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4-r1, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8) If you get a file not found type error you don't have it installed. > > "./usr/src/nv/conftest.sh: line 19: cc: command not found > Be sure to have your distributions libc development package installed > and tha t'cc' is a valid compiler name." Not sure what the name of the package will be on FC4 but I would look for a package named libc-dev for something along those lines. But first install gcc as it might take care of this since libc is the gcc library and it would seem like it would install the libc header files when gcc is installed. > > I am baffled at this juncture. And after a while you will find that stuff like this is really fairly simple since you will be a little farther up the learning curve. So take a deep breath, relax and take it one step at a time. You are in the process of learning some new stuff and that takes a little perseverance. The first few of these are by far the hardest. > > Dick > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
