First of all, let me say thank you to the devs for creating this wonderful simulator. Very nice indeed.

Ok, then, I am running the 0.9.9 OS X Universal Binary edition of Flightgear on an Intel iMac 20".

Now, to the puzzle: On various websites I see some very nice 'roundish' clouds. I would categorize these as being of the type cumulus or cumulonimbus, but I'm not a meteorologist, so forgive me if
I've got the names wrong. You can see some of these clouds here:

http://www.flightgear.org/images/clouds-winter-bo105.jpg

When I run Flightgear, I never see anything remotely like those clouds. Mine are thin and streaky or foggy, sometimes dark (if bump-mapped), sometimes light, but never like the ones in the image. I've tried all sorts of different combinations of cloud settings and bpp values, but without success.

I notice a cloud image of the right type in 'FlightGear.app/Contents/ Resources/data/Textures/Sky', in the file 'cl_cumulus.rgb'. And that filename can be found in the fgfs binary:

  % grep 'cl_cumulus.rgb' fgfs
  Binary file fgfs matches

But I can't see an image like that when I run Flightgear. Also, I notice there is no 'cumulus' entry in the cloud dialog, and indeed, there is no reference to that type of cloud in 'clouds.xml'.

I'd appreciate any help with this.

Thanks,

Snick.
