Looks like the extrude function from the apex vertex worked. I managed to get my first model exported to an .ac file. Any of you know any good .ac viewers that don't pollute the registry, don't have to be installed, and aren't shareware/demo (that is to say freeware or opensouce)? I know blender can do that, but a third party viewer would also be nice in order to verify that it looks right from various angles and that everything is exported correctly.

As a side note: Blender is "unit independent". How do I make sure a unit sphere in blender remains a unit sphere in other modelling software?

I've been trying the subdivide one, but without much luck.

I've got a flat planar sort of a shape (shark's fin, if you will).
I'm trying to take the base, and split that into two, and have two edges going to the peak.

The top one becomes the middle one. Would this be a job for Extrude?

As for blender, I've run into one problem that I don't seem to be able
to solve on my own. How do I add a *single* vertex to a mesh in edit
mode? I've been lightly tinkering with blender for a few months, too,
but have yet to figure this out.

I often use Extrude ( E ). There is also CTRL-LMB and Subdivide ( W 1 )
