..your 9550 is old enough to work properly on the radeon driver.
I'm on Debian Sid, with xorg-7.0.20 but on a 128 bit 9250.
Put your /var/log/Xorg.0.log, dmesg, lspci -vvv etc on your 
web server and post the url here.

...and report the potential X ati/radeon bug, even if ATI's binary or
AJ's Nvidia card works for you.  ;o)
